Do you fly?

This is a snip-it that was read at the funeral today.  Think about it for awhile.

The Flying Rodleighs are trapeze artists who perform in the circus.

One day, I was sitting with Rodleigh, the leader of the troupe, in his caravan, talking about flying. He said, "As a flyer, I must have complete trust in my catcher. The public might think that I am the great star of the trapeze, but the real star is Joe, my catcher. He has to be there for me with split-second precision and grab me out of the air as I come to him in the long jump." "How does it work?" I asked. "The secret," Rodleigh said, "is that the flyer does nothing and the catcher does everything. When I fly to Joe, I have simply to stretch out my arms and hands and wait for him to catch me and pull me safely over the apron behind the catcher."

"You do nothing!" I said, surprised. "Nothing," Rodleigh repeated. "The worst thing the flyer can do is to try to catch the catcher. I am not supposed to catch Joe. It's Joe's task to catch me. If I grabbed Joe's wrists, I might break them, or he might break mine, and that would be the end for both of us. A flyer must fly, and a catcher must catch, and the flyer must trust, with outstretched arms, that his catcher will be there for him."

When Rodleigh said this with so much conviction, the words of Jesus flashed through my mind: "Father, into your hands I commend my Spirit." Dying is trusting in the catcher. To care for the dying is to say, "Don't be afraid. Remember that you are the beloved child of God. He will be there when you make your long jump. Don't try to grab him; he will grab you. Just stretch out your arms and hands and trust, trust, trust."

Loved her dress!

The hats were redic. Come on, this can't possibly be a trend? Why are they wearing them on the front of their foreheads? Dislike.
I think these 3 pictures will be the most popular now and in the history books.
the timeless wave-a classic!
This is my favorite!

TGIF

Woo-hoo it's Friday! Don't forget to....

Sister, Sister!

So, lots of you inquisitive people, some who blog stalk, were informed that Sarah isn't my real sister. (thanks LOMA) Nope, we're not related although everyone says we look similar. We're just BFF's and we were zeta sisters (big sis/lil sis) and well, the name sister stuck! So, now that the secret is out. My SISTER came to visit for Good Friday. Our schedule was packed with fun! Lots of shopping, home good stores, antiques downtown Franklin, Green Hills, etc. We also hit up the Nashville Spring flea market-my favorite!
Green bottles-my fav! (I got some more)
great lamps and a dresser

Rumpelstiltskin Scrunch
an African fertility belly...I guess you'll know if it truly works!
We also hit up the mall and continued our tradition of eating Cypress salads at J. Alexander's at 8pm.

I also have to share my K Mart shoes.  Ok, I don't go to K Mart. Like ever.  But, Sister has her own cupcake business and she wanted to check something out in the Martha Stewart line so we went.  I ended up with shoes.
I am not embarrassed, these granny shoes are SO comfy and only $7.99.  So, don't be a hater. hehe

Not everything is black and white!

My Etsy pillows are in...Ta-da! They are big, bold and gray!

Ok, they came in a week ago but I just got the pillow inserts when Sarah was here. Now I'm looking for some huge Chevron pillows to lounge on and probably will match it to some panel curtains. Kinda like these..

 ....or these
Duh, my vote is for green! Steven wants the accent color to be red.  Love me some Ikat print!

Pillows...again!

I HEART World Market!

I'm SOOOOO excited because I  F.I.N.A.L.L.Y. found some chairs to match my Acacia farm dining table.  I realize the task sounds easy, but it has been super hard! I've been on a wait list for over 6 months  just for the  chairs that GO with my table.  I even put a want ad on Craigslist.    On Saturday I found the perfect Indian wood Sourav dining chairs with similar legs to my existing table at World Market!  I was on cloud nine, totally fist pumping in my head.  Score!  It was that kind of day!

I also fell in love with this:
The Kavita flower table runner!
I really like this Arabesque rug too....sadly, it's only 2x8.

So, in conclusion, I want to have 10,000 of World Markets babies!!!!
(name that movie, my friends and I use that line all.the.time.)

Chew on this...

What a stressful week and it's only Tuesday! I'm not just talking about myself either! Seriously something has happened, occurred, popped up, or troubled a handful of my friends today too both at work and in our personal lives.  So, here's hoping that tomorrow is much better...for us all!
Can I get a woo-hoo that TCAP is finally over!
....and I leave you with this because it rocks!

He went to Jared!

....except the HE is really a SHE, and the SHE is only 3.5 feet tall and happens to be one of my favorite little girls I've had!
They got me a PANDORA bracelet and a charm.  I was very surprised and touched!

Everything but the sink post...

This weeks dinner menu:
Flounder stuffed with crab meat and veggies  (fish thanks to Trader Joe's)
Filet Mignon and fried potatoes (my hubs specialty)
Italian chicken breasts and yummy roasted brussel sprouts
home made chicken pot pie
...and the rest of the week the hubs is flying solo because my sister is coming Thursday!
We've got a very strict agenda consisting of lots of shopping, the home good store, Trader Joe's, downtown Franklin, Antiques and....drum roll please.....NASHVILLE FLEA MARKET EXTRAVAGANZA!
 Flea market Fall 2009

Can I get a woo-woo! (see previous posts about me being 80 years old)

It's the spring fling so I'm hoping all the vendors will be there!  You've got 2 type A planners and boom, you have a morning to midnight agenda. We like to go, go, go and  I love it! Oh, there will be some fine dining for dinners and lots of talking.

Enjoy the week!

Good weekend= good week ahead!

I had a good weekend!  Friday night we lounged at Mary's with take out and girl talk! Oh, and the cutest rolling around, giggle baby-- Grayson!  He literally rolled around the living room getting toys and laughing.

Saturday I shopped all day! I went all over town with my mental to-do list.  My awesome botanical prints referenced HERE a few weeks ago are currently being framed.  Here's a sneak peak! Charles, a.k.a. my frame man does an amazing job.

These babies will be hung once I get all 8 back! I'm excited.

Saturday night we got Chinese take out and spent the night watching movies in our pajamas which was perfect.  This movie was horrible.  Sorry, but I don't like to skip around from Thailand, San Francisco, Paris, and London reading subtitles while laying down and trying to figure out the plot. It was slow moving and did not keep my attention. Matt, you get no points for this movie!

CONVICTION however, is a wonderful true story of a sister who becomes a lawyer just to exonerate her wrongfully accused brother of  murder.  It has Hilary Swank, Minnie Driver and Sam Rockwell. I really enjoyed it because it's based on the true Betty Ann Waters case!

 In other news....

The basement is almost done! Hooray, we're looking at flooring today! How was your weekend?

Love me some R&B

I love, love, love this R&B song by LA native Miguel.   It reads like a poem if you know the words/tune.... here's a sneak peak....
Chorus:
Even when the sky comes falling
Even when the sun don't shine
I got faith in you and I
So put your pretty little hand in mine
Even when we're down to the wire babe
Even when it's do or die
We can do it simple and plain
This love is a sure thang
You can bet that never gotta sweat that ( x 4)

We all need to be constantly sharpened!

The Pencil Parable
All these images were hand carved out of pencil lead. Read the parable at the end...

A PENCIL MAKER TOLD THE PENCIL 5 IMPORTANT LESSONS JUST BEFORE PUTTING IT IN THE BOX :

1.) EVERYTHING YOU DO WILL ALWAYS LEAVE A MARK .

2.) YOU CAN ALWAYS CORRECT THE MISTAKES YOU MAKE.

3.) WHAT IS IMPORTANT IS WHAT IS INSIDE OF YOU.

4.) IN LIFE , YOU WILL UNDERGO PAINFUL SHARPENINGS, WHICH WILL ONLY MAKE YOU BETTER.

5.) TO BE THE BEST PENCIL, YOU MUST ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE HELD AND GUIDED BY THE HAND THAT HOLDS YOU.

Lady and the Tramp

I wasn't sure if she would do it...but she did!

Do you see what I see?

Dean and Slade could be brothers...and both gals are platinum with red lipstick. I found it interesting. **I did think it was very thoughtful of Gretchen to plan a 40th wedding anniversary surprise for her parents.

Happy Monday!

I loved it as a kid and now my class loves it too. Funny how things never change!

Six years to the day!

On this day, exactly six years ago, I was sitting on my parents backyard swing when my cellphone rang. It was a Sunday. I accepted an impromptu invitation to a late lunch at our new Chili's restaurant. I remember exactly what I wore! (but you already guessed that)  We ate the same menu item--chicken baby! Talked about our lives. Laughed. He had pretty green eyes.

...and the rest is history!
